The Art of Jeanne Engesath

About the Artist

Jeanne currently lives and works in Port Angeles, Washington.  She specializes in painting wildlife and landscape scenes.  Though she has had some formal art education, Jeanne has gathered most of her knowledge through self-study and through attendance at workshops with some of the nation's foremost wildlife and landscape artists.  She enjoys the challenge of working with different mediums, trying new subjects and gathering information for paintings.

Fifteen years of living in Alaska have given Jeanne a real love for the wildlife and scenery of the far north.  However, since joining the community of Port Angeles, Washington  2001, she has found an interest in the local wildlife here, as well as the farm animals and local scenery of the area.

Jeanne and husband Vern, a retired fireman, live on 4 1/2 acres outside of Port Angeles where they enjoy trail riding up in the mountains and raising German Shepherd dogs.

Jeanne's artwork has won numerous regional awards in Alaska and Washington and is in private collections throughout the country.  She has also worked as a freelance illustrator for the Northwest Interpretive Center at Olympic National Park.  Jeanne is an associate member of Women Artists of the West, and Plein Air Washington

I know I don't look my best here, but I love this shot.  It was taken several years ago at Wolf Mountain Sanctuary in Southern California. You get to go inside the enclosure and spend time with the wolves face to face. A truly wonderful experience.
